Boy Kong – Mural & Theme Paint

Enjoy this timelapse video as Boy Kong and his partner Kirza Lopez create an inspiring mural using Golden Paintworks Mural & Theme colors. Golden Artist Colors, through our relationship with Meininger’s in Denver, commissioned Boy Kong to paint a mural at the 2022 NAMTA show. Boy Kong is a self-taught painter, illustrator, muralist, and collage artist. Inspired by a mixture of Ukiyo-e, Surrealism, Graffiti art, and animal folklore, Kong’s visual style juxtaposes these elements with a mastery of color and rhythmic application. In short time his body of work has become immediately identifiable without succumbing to a signature aesthetic. Kong divides his time between Orlando and NYC.

Role Changes in the GOLDEN Marketing Department

Bryce Lampe has been promoted to Brand Portfolio Manager responsible for all three fine art brands. This new role helps ensure clear strategies and the right investments on GOLDEN, QoR and Williamsburg to meet our business targets and delight customers.  Bryce will continue to lead major innovation projects on acrylics while taking on various other projects across all the brands.  His experience working on the brands over the years, successes launching numerous products, and his deep understanding of operational processes have prepared him for this new role.

Barb Luhmann is now Senior Brand Operations Manager. Her focus will be marketing operations processes, including the new product stage gate process, SKU rationalization, and other process projects.  Barb will also be leading new product development projects for QoR and Williamsburg. Barb has done a terrific job on Williamsburg and will continue to support that brand working with Bryce. This new role leverages Barb’s strengths leading large teams and operational processes across all the brands.

Jared Treanor will transition fully from QoR Senior Brand Manager to his new role: Senior Digital Marketing & Insights Manager, leading Search Engine Optimization, CRM initiatives, ecommerce positioning, and customer insight for the fine art brands.  Jared will develop new analytic tools to help us better connect with artists to drive growth. Jared did a great job building the QoR brand even as he took on additional responsibilities in retail marketing, ecommerce, and search engine marketing — all helping prepare him for this new role.

Allison Capozza’s role is expanding as Senior Community Manager for fine art brands, and while you may be thinking “isn’t that what Allison does already?”  the answer is yes, but her role is expanding to include media planning, all other content planning, and Youtube.

Kaity Irvin has started as the new Retail Marketing Coordinator for GOLDEN. She is the liaison between the sales and marketing departments ensuring that all sales/marketing materials reach our trade partners, are kept up to date, and that requests for specific marketing materials from Retailers, Sales Reps, and Distributors are granted.

GOLDEN Welcomes Two CAA-GOLDEN Scholarship Program Recipients to the SAGF Residency!

Earlier this year we shared details about a new CAA-GOLDEN Scholarship Program to support artists whose mission it is to give back to their communities through teaching, while nurturing and developing their own talents and capabilities as artists. The inaugural grants have been awarded and we’re excited to host artists Mick Bodnar and Beth Reitmeyer at the Sam and Adele Golden Foundation this month.

The program grants two unrestricted scholarships of $8,000 each on an annual basis to artists with an MFA who are pursuing a career in K-12 education. Grantees also receive two weeks at the Sam and Adele Golden Foundation Residency Program, $1000 towards GOLDEN products, registration to the 2023 CAA Annual Conference, and one year of CAA membership.

GOLDEN Supports “Routes and Roadblocks: The Black Motoring Experience” in Local Community

We are delighted to support a new exhibit at the Chenango County Historical Society. Routes and Roadblocks: The Black Motoring Experience is a collaboration between CCHS and The Cooperstown Graduate Program. This exhibit connects the history of Chenango County (where GOLDEN is located), the impact of the invention of the automobile, and the work of SUNY Oneonta Distinguished Professor Dr. Gretchen Sorin. Dr. Sorin is author of the book Driving While Black, and producer of the PBS documentary “Driving While Black: Race, Space and Mobility in America.”

CCHS is in Norwich, NY and open Wednesday – Saturday, 10 am – 4 pm. The exhibit will be up for public viewing until later this year.
