Throughout the month of June we’ll be providing resources and inspiration in hopes that when Social Media Day rolls around, your store is in a position to reap the benefits—whether it’s via a contest on Instagram, a strategic push to increase your followers on your preferred platform, or a handful of small steps that can elevate your online presence. Stay tuned for the Mac social media kit in your inbox and in the meantime, here are three simple ways to up your social media game.
- Create a store hashtag and display it prominently. If you have a strong community of regulars, maybe it doesn’t even have your store name in it. ARTiculations, for instance, uses #MakeArtEveryDay; Opus Art Supplies uses #OpusArtSupplies and will repost the artwork of customers who use the hashtag when posting artwork.
- Take advantage of the ripple effect: follow people already in your circle. Instructors, local artists who show at your store if you have a gallery, staff members, regular customers, local art organizations and other business or non-profits you have worked alongside in the past. Find them, follow them, like some of their posts and comment. They may follow you back and share something you post, increasing your reach!
- If you don’t have a store page on Facebook, create one today. If you already have one, check your about section and make sure it is up to date, with links to your website, blog, etc. Use a quality image of your storefront, your staff, or the inside of your space as your cover photo for a more inviting look.
