Order Your Just Paint Experience (JPE) Pouring Demo Kit

January 9 marked the launch of a new outreach platform to artists, the Just Paint Experience – a new expression of GOLDEN expertise centered on the practical needs and perspectives of artists.  Where Just Paint offers scholarly depth and detail, Just Paint Experience (JPE) is more quick-reading, studio-oriented content in a variety of forms, depending on the topic, level of detail, and sophistication.

Retailers will be provided with assets they can use to offer the JPE subscription to their social media and email audiences, highlighting new available topics each month.

In the month preceding the launch of each topic, retail partners will receive a Leadership Email with links to assets and updates on upcoming topics.  Live Demonstration Kits will be available at no cost for stores to create their own in-store demos around three different JPE topics in 2019. Kits can be ordered via a link to an order form in the monthly Leadership Emails.  Each kit must be ordered by a representative in each participating location and the store is responsible for marketing and conducting their own events.

Each kit is designed with simple and fun exercises that can be presented by store staff, no matter their level of expertise, from easy to follow step-by-step instructions. The kits contain everything needed to conduct multiple demonstrations over a 2-3 hour period.  The three Demo kits available order dates are as follows:

  • 0000P86-0 (MAY: Pouring Demo Kit – Order through March 15, 2019)
  • 0000P87-0 (JULY: Printmaking Demo Kit – Order through May 17, 2019)
  • 0000P88-0 (OCTOBER: Acrylic Skins Demo Kit – Order through August 16, 2019)

Master Teacher Art Exhibition at Golden Artist Colors Loft Gallery

Golden Artist Colors has partnered with DCMO, Madison-Oneida and Herkimer County BOCES to host its third Master Teacher Art Exhibition. The Opening Reception, which will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in The Loft Gallery at Golden Artist Colors will feature artwork by 12 local art teachers who participated in the recent Master Teacher Program. The event, held at 188 Bell Road, New Berlin, is free and open to the public.

In the Summer of 2018, Golden Artist Colors partnered with DCMO, Madison-Oneida and Herkimer County BOCES to offer two professional painting instruction courses for art teachers in the local community. The 5-week professional development program began in early July 2018 and concluded mid-August 2018. It was focused on helping participants explore a range of painting media and techniques to reinforce or establish their own voice.

The Master Teacher Program took place at the GOLDEN facility and was facilitated by professional artist Amy McKinnon.  McKinnon is a painter living and working in upstate New York. She received a BFA from Moore College of Art and Design in painting and ceramics and an MFA from Tulane University in painting.  In addition to being a practicing and showing painter, she has also taught painting and drawing at the university level, worked in painting restoration and conservation and worked in the Lab at Golden Artist Colors answering technical questions of customers, testing and applying paints, and teaching about materials.

Golden Foundation Opens its Doors for 2019 Residency Season

The Sam and Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts Residency Program will open its doors for its 8th year on March 3rd to the first, new group of artists! Sophie Knight (California), Eryn O’Neill (Canada) and Keri Kimura (Maine) will spend 4 weeks in the barn experimenting with new materials and pushing the boundaries of their work. The artists have access to the Materials Room on the 3rd floor of the barn, which holds all of the acrylics, oils and watercolor paints supplied by Golden Artist Colors! It’s like getting locked in an art store at night and having access to any material your heart desires.

The first week the artists are here, they will take part in 5, 2 hour Technical Sessions at GOLDEN where they will meet with the Material Specialists to learn about substrate preparation, grounds, gels and mediums, all of the acrylic color lines and an introduction to the Williamsburg Oil line. Each day is filled with information to take back to the studio at night and paint away!

There are many more Technicals to choose from over the next 3 weeks, including, but not limited to Best Practices in Waste Water Removal for Your Studio, Airbrushing, Decorative Tools and Techniques, Safe Clean-up for Oil Paints and Best Practices in Packing, Shipping and Storage of Your Artwork.

The final week culminates in an Open Studio where the local community is invited to meet the artists and walk through their studios to enjoy the work that has begun and in some cases, completed over the 4 weeks. Looking forward to starting out 2019 with a great group of artists!
