Big Kolo Announcement

Tuesday, September 25th, 2012

We are very excited and pleased to announce that we have finalized an agreement with Kolo for Kolo products to become a brand exclusive to MacPherson’s!

Kolo is a 14-year-old, US-based company that offers top quality albums and accessories for photos and presentation.  Kolo has built a strong brand name with consumers through its attention to every detail in the quality and function of its products.  Kolo needed a strong partner for the distribution and sales side of the business and MacPherson’s was its logical choice. Their goal and ours will be improvements in customer service levels at the retail level with a special emphasis on providing consistently high fill rates. By outsourcing its customer interface, Kolo can focus on its strengths: innovative product development, high quality manufacturing and superior brand management.

MacPherson’s will become the exclusive importer for Kolo in North America, with exclusive distribution to the arts & crafts channel as well as a few other select channels. We have already placed orders for 3 containers to ship directly from the factory in Hong Kong to our warehouses set to arrive in November. As with our other Exclusive Brands, we’ll be implementing increased sales and marketing efforts to broaden Kolo’s exposure to our entire customer base while increasing sales to our existing Kolo customers.  The official transition date is November 15th.

New Kolo Hudson Album Size!

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

There has always been something missing in the Kolo family of albums. There’s the super, best-selling Noci that holds 24 photos. There’s the Catalina that holds 200. And of course, there’s the super-popular Hudson 2 and Hudson 3 that hold 200 and 300 4 x 6 photos respectively. But there was that gap between 24 and 200. That’s a big gap and tons of people told them that. Thanks for all the feedback, consumers! Kolo listened.

Introducing Hudson 1!

Yeah, it’s a super nice photo album. It works nicely with the other Hudsons. But like the Noci, it has also has removable sleeves so the album is really versatile. Some of the product testers are using Hudson 1 as an art portfolio and others are using it as a nice journal since you can write in it and add photos. It’s a perfect Instagram book, too.

Available in the MacPherson’s warehouses by late January!

A Letter From Kolo’s CEO Peter Dunn

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

Dear MacPherson’s Customers,

The purpose of this letter is to give you an update on Kolo and our current stock levels. In 2009 and 2010, we experienced major supply problems with several of our factories, both American and Asian.  During the economic downturn, our distributors also had to watch inventory very carefully so there was little room for service problems.

I am happy to report that all our core products are now up and running again and the problem factories were successfully replaced. We are going very deep in inventory on all of these product groups.  Demand has picked up tremendously over the past six months. To help streamline the business, we discontinued several products like the Cortina, the Riva, the Newport 12 x 12, Small Essex and other items. We plan to also cut the Essex Medium and Vineyard this year.

Our stock levels are growing everyday and MacPherson’s is also going deeper in inventory. We are sorry for the strain that these issues put on your business. Working with MacPherson’s, we hope to get your stock levels back up quickly. I am pleased to also report that the demand for Kolo remains strong and we are had a very strong first quarter.

Obviously, we held off on new product launches during this difficult time. But many exciting new products are going to be launched later in the year. Be sure to ask your MacPherson’s sales representative for a new Kolo catalog if you have not received one already.
