QoR Tubes

Reinvigorating the QoR® Watercolor Brand

In February Golden Artist Colors introduced an investment in pricing and consumer marketing to reinvigorate the QoR Watercolor brand. The long term success of QoR watercolor is a key pillar within the Golden Artist Colors vision. The brand’s patented Aquazol® binder, which enables high pigment concentration and increased application options, and its line of innovative watercolor grounds are loved by many artists who have tried the brand. Due to significant premium pricing and the introduction of an entirely new brand identity (QoR), the QoR brand was not delivering the consumer adoption rates that GOLDEN, or you, desire. To reset QoR on a growth trajectory of significant scale, GOLDEN is introducing an integrated long term investment strategy that combines a pricing recalibration with an amplified consumer marketing plan. Through these efforts it is our firm belief that the QoR brand will be recognized as one of the most important contributions to watercolor artists and to all artists that want to reach a new level of possibilities of performance, depth of color and permanence.

As part of that initiative, on May 6th, 2017 the MSRP on QoR will be reduced by 15%.  This investment is designed to maintain a price premium that Golden believes is warranted by product differentiation and performance, while making the brand more accessible to new users.  Below you will see the new pricing by series.

By now you should all be aware of the specific key areas of focus that have been put in place for this effort. Please contact your GOLDEN Sales Representative for any additional questions that you might have. Thank you for your continued support of all the GOLDEN brands.

Dear Valued Customer,

As many of you will recall, from our first trade newsletter last November or from various conversations and communication with any number of the Colart team, we went live with our new ERP system, M3, on schedule at the start of March. We are acutely aware that this has been a challenging time for many inside of Colart and more importantly for you our customers. Be it the year end closure for a full stock count (important to ensure integrity of information transfer to M3) or the slower than expected restart after M3 ‘Go Live’ we appreciate the support you have shown us. When any business moves to a completely new platform there are always challenges – some businesses virtually grind to a halt for months on end.

We have had some challenges, mainly around receiving stock into the Distribution Center, but the business is starting to get back up to speed. Some of our fill rates have been, and continue to be, lower than we want and for that we apologize. We did have some difficulties receiving stock and making it available for orders but we believe we have ironed out most of the technical issues. We expect to see only improving service levels and fill rates from here – albeit we believe May will still be below the levels we aspire to. The new M3 system, already integrated on many other Colart sites, will ultimately help us to service you, our customers, and with you our consumers better for many years to come.

Thank you again for your continued support of Colart, our brands and our people. Should you have any questions please reach out to your local representative in the first instance.

My best regards

Signature

Groovy, Baby! Jacquard Goes Hippie Retro

Monday, May 29th, 2017

7 Shirt Comp

Although resist dyeing techniques (including ones involving binding of fabric prior to coloring) date back at least 2,500 years, tie dyeing as it has come to be known is a distinctly American artform that was born out of the freewheeling hippy days of California in the 1960’s. Even today, multi-colored tie dye motifs like the rainbow spiral are widely associated with the love movement that took America by storm some forty years ago. Though tie dye has been absorbed into more mainstream aesthetics in recent years (see “tie dye chic,” for instance, a popular “yuppie” fad), it remains a markedly American tradition.

Believe it or not, Jacquard was the very first to offer a “tie dye kit”—a package containing everything you need to tie dye like a hippy/pro. Jacquard has been offering this kit since 1982, proudly manufactured in the San Francisco bay area, the birthplace of hippiedom! These days, tie dye kits abound in the US—there is a whole aisle of them in Walmart!—but they are all knock-offs of Jacquard’s original kit, mostly manufactured in China, and it goes without saying, none of them are nearly as high quality nor of equal value to Jacquard’s. The Jacquard Tie Dye Kits are still the gold standard, and it is a high bar they have set: the kits yield intense and lasting colors that to this day are unmatched by any other brand in the world!

With summer upon us what better way is there to celebrate than getting outside and tie dying your shirts, jean shorts, headbands, socks, bedding, dresses or underwear! All Jacquard’s Tie Dye kits are easy-to-use, and no two results are ever exactly alike. The design possibilities are endless and unique as fingerprints! They make great gifts and are wonderful party activities. Kits contain everything needed for dyeing (except the fabric): pre-measured Procion MX Dye powder (in convenient applicator bottles), Soda Ash dye fixer, rubber bands, gloves and easy-to-follow instructions.

jac9444_x_1

Jacquard Tie Dye Kits are available through MacPherson’s in two sizes JAC9444 and JAC9445 retail at $11.99 and JAC9320 and JAC9325 retail for $19.99.
